All 20,000 weekend tickets for the Nederlandse Loterij ISU World Short Track Championships 2024 presented by Odido have been sold. After seven years, the World Short Track Championships will return to Rotterdam. From March 15 to 17, Rotterdam Ahoy will again be transformed into an ice palace. For the Friday there are still tickets available for both the afternoon and evening program.
Partly due to the successes of TeamNL Shorttrack in recent years, the popularity of the sport has grown considerably. Ticket sales for the World Championships started a little over a year ago, in February 2023, during the last World Cup in the Netherlands, and interest was immediately evident. After another successful European Championship for the Dutch short Trackers, last weekend in Gdansk, the last weekend tickets for the Worlds had disappeared from the webshop.
Despite the weekend being sold out, there are still opportunities to experience this event live. On Friday, March 15, tickets are still available for both the afternoon and evening sessions. This is the chance to see the world’s top short track competitors compete live for the various titles. During the World Short Track Championships, there are 9,500 seats available per session. On Friday, two sessions will take place. On Saturday and Sunday, there is one session per day.
Tickets for Friday are still on sale at www.schaatsen.nl/tickets.
Cees Juffermans, tournament director of the World Short Track Championships, is delighted with the overwhelming response from the public. “Short track has won a special place in the hearts of Dutch fans, and the fact that we completely sold out Saturday and Sunday is a reflection of the growing popularity of this sport in our country. We are looking forward to a weekend full of excitement, competition and unforgettable moments in a full venue.”
