Sjinkie Knegt

Sjinkie Knegt, born on 5 July 1989, is currently the best known and most successful Dutch short tracker. Knegt started skating at the age of 9 and is known as one of the most spectacular short trackers in the world with his unpredictability and impressive overtaking. Sjinkie Knegt was the first Dutch short tracker who won a medal at the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014. After the Winter Olympic Games in 2014, Knegt won gold at the World Championship in 2015, gold at the World Championship relay in 2014 and 2017 and silver at the 1500 meters at the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang in 2018. In 2019 Knegt suffered from third-degree burns. After a year of recovery, Knegt made his comeback during the World Cup Shorttrack 2020 in Dordrecht (The Netherlands).
